My name is Michael Segura, I was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Grand Rapids. As the child of first generation immigrants
the pressure to succeed was always high and my choice of career was met with much scorn and admonishment.
From a young age I had always had a fascination for video games. I first got into games before I was fully capable of reading and Iím confident that I learned to read while playing Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. That game changed my life. Iíve played and beaten that 18 hour gameboy game a few hundred times from the time I was in first grade to the day I graduated highschool. It became my reason to enter the gaming industry much to the dismay of my parents who wouldíve much rather I become a doctor or a lawyer.
I decided to attend Ferris towards the end of the application period when a plethera of my mentors at the time mentioned that they were alumni. I figured I would learn to weave my stories and create epic experiences for my audience by learning from the people who taught my mentors, and thatís how I ended up at Ferris.
